Overview
The A5 Coupe is the two-door version of Audi's compact platform. It shares a platform, style, and much of the interior with Audi's A4 sedan but is aimed at drivers wanting coupe looks and two fewer doors. For other variants, see also the A5 Cabriolet convertible and the A5 Sportback four-door coupe.
What’s New/Key Changes From Last Year
New this year, the A5 Coupe is being offered with a 2.0L turbo-four equipped with Audi's mild-hybrid system. At 261 hp it offers more power than before and should offer improved fuel economy.
Also new, Komfort trim adds wireless Apple CarPlay and lane departure warning as standard, and the top-end Technik model gets new rear-seat USB charging ports. The Advanced Driver Assistance Pack adds hands-on detection.
Available Trims
The A5 is offered in Komfort, Progressiv, and Technik trims. All four get the same engine along with a seven-speed automatic and quattro all-wheel drive.
Standard Features
The Audi A5 Komfort starts with 19-inch wheels and a power panoramic sunroof. It also has LED matrix design headlights and LED tails as well as high gloss trim. Inside, it offers a 10.1-inch touchscreen display as well as a 10-speaker audio system and colour driver info screen. Bluetooth is standard, along with power (and heated) front seats, push-button start, and leather seating with contrast stitching, and smartphone interface with wireless Apple CarPlay. Active safety features standard include lane departure warning, pre sense city and rear, side assist, exit warning system, and rain and light sensor.
Progressiv adds Audi virtual cockpit plus and connected navigation. It also adds a heated steering wheel, driver seat memory, S-Line exterior styling and a foot-activated trunk release. Active safety adds rear cross traffic alert, parking sensors front and rear, and high-beam assist.
Top-trim Technik LED matrix headlights with laserlight as well as power folding mirrors. On the inside is a Bang & Olufsen stereo, rear-seat USB charging, ambient interior lighting, and the safety suite gains a top-view camera.
Key Options
Komfort trim offers a Convenience package of parking sensors, a heated steering wheel, driver’s seat memory, passive keyless entry, auto-dimming side mirrors, and rear cross traffic alert.
Progressiv and Technik can be fitted with an S Line Sport package with sport seats and sport suspension, or an S line Black package with the same but adding black wheels piano black inlays, mirrors, and grille and window surrounds.
A Comfort seating package on the top trims adds ventilated front seats and power passenger lumbar, and there is an Advanced Driver Assistance package with adaptive cruise, lane assist, traffic sign recognition, traffic congest assistant, and pre sense front.
Fuel Economy
As of this writing, Audi hasn’t published fuel consumption ratings for the 2021 A5. With a new engine on the list expect changes from last year's A5 45 TFSI.
Competition
The Audi A5 competes with the C-Class coupe from Mercedes-Benz as well as the BMW 4 Series Coupe.
